Default Is a Pentium 3 to 4 worth the upgrade?

Will it run faster and hold more memory by a lot?

The general answer would be "yes", but what are your system specs and what are you planning on upgrading to?

Well, there's a little more to it than that, but yes, upgrading from a P3 to a modern, new P4 will provide a significant boost to performance. If you're talking about upgrading to an older, second-hand P4, you may not notice the difference.

By 'holding more memory', I assume you're referring to hard drive capacity. This is independant of the architecture, and rather simply a question of what sized hard drive you have (although a P3 may not support hard drives larger than 137GB without a BIOS flash, drive overlay program, or seperate controller card).

EDIT: Beat me too it, 34erd

Take a look at the "How do I find this information" section of Questions 101

if it's the vaio laptop you are planning on upgrading then it may be best to just get a new laptop, as you would probably need a whole new motherboard for the laptop aswell, and the processor, and the would both be very hard to find to fit you specific laptop
