Well, my big thing is, some of those people that have opinions usually haven't tried those products your trying to get advice on. The thing is, if your willing to buy a pre-built system, they come with a warranty for at least 90 days to a year.

I have 4 Dell, 2 HP, 1 E-machine desktop, 3 Dell laptops and 1 Acer laptop in my possesion. How many problems have I had with any of them? 0

Call it luck, call it what you will. The oldest Dell machine I have is an old XPS D300 with P2 300Mhz chip. Still runs like a champ since day 1 without a single problem.

If Dell or HP or whomever is what you want, get it. As long as you get it setup right, you should've have any problems. I even went to Dells outlet and bought a Dimension desktop for one of my kids and only paid 300 bucks for it. It does more than enough for what you wanna do with one.

Oh and BTW, anybody who ever tells you that HP is junk, tell them to take a good look inside of one. They use ASUS motherboards, Seagate drives, Foxxconn power supplies etc. The same parts we buy to build our own machines. Of course, they're cheaper for them and are usually tailored for them but, from the same manufacturers.

Yes, quite true, HP have much better components inside their computers than most other OEM companies. Dell use the cheapest crappest own brand parts, thats why they can push them out so cheap.

I think their XPS series uses better parts, not sure however.

Sounds like your best bet is going with a Dell desktop. Do some research on the Internet to find the best deal on a Dell. Type in "Dell promo code" to find some of those hidden deals on the Internet that could save you some money.

Well said! I too haven't had any problems with a branded PC.
