4 Virtual Desktop split screen

I am trying to find a way so that I can have my laptop screen divided into 4 virtual desktops.I know there are apps out there for creating virtual desktops that require you to switch between them to utelize them. I would like to have all 4 displayed on the main screen and be able to access them also. (run programs on them while all 4 are on the main screen.
Is it at all posible? thanx
