Ok, I reformat my computer alot, just because I can and like to have to top notch running pc. Anyways, when you reformat your pc you have to go through the whole process and what not, reinserting your cd and all. Well every time I reformat my comp I need to call and get my cd key renewed. I was told that I could create a boot disk that can take an 'image' of the final product (once everything is reinstalled and running good.) and next time I need to want to reformat I could just load off the bootdisk and basically reinstalled windows in a matter of minutes or what ever.
I don't know what to think of this. I would love something like this to work, but I have never dealt with boot disk. Also the guy gave me a cd named, barts boot disk231. Any help would be great. If you need any more clarifacation just ask. I am a little out of it today.

I think what you are referring to is a boot CD with a burned
image of you original hard drive. You won't be able to do that with just a disk. It is much too small. Alot of people use the program Ghost to burn an image of there hard drive to a cd and then use it to reinstall. This is similiar to what the name brand vendors use as their recovery cd's. I believe Emachine uses Ghost on there recovery CD's. It's not as easy as you were lead to believe but it isn't extremely difficult either if you have the software and the knowledge to do it. It will also save alot of time once you get it to work. |

Ok, thanks for the help.
How would I go about burning an image of my hd to a cd to use for reinstalls? And I would be able to use this cd (bart's) instead of using norton ghost or something else that isn't free? Thanks for all the help in advance, Bob.
