i was debating on upgrading my hard drive. i have a wd 80gig 10,000 rpm 8mb cache hard drive. but would it really be that big of a difference switching to sata on an asus a8n sli premium mb with an amd 64 x2 3800+ hd? if it is, what would be a good brand to go for?

There weren't any IDE(ATA) drives that were 10,000 RPMs... At least, I don't know of any. Just the Raptors that were SATA...
Anyway, harddrives are very slow in general. I don't think you'd see a huge difference between say an ATA133 and SATA150(or even SATA-II) I mean when I had a pair of Raptors in a RAID, I got 216Mbps. By SATA standards, I should of gotten around 300Mbps... Good brands, I stick with Western Digital and Seagate. WD is fast, Segate is reliable... Shoot me a PM if you want a Western Digital 200G SATA-II drive. I got a new one I'm trying to sell(well, used for like 3 hours)
