Alright, my friend got $300 from his parents to upgrade his computer.
His current rig: Athlon XP 2200+ 512MB PC2100 GF FX5200 im not sure the model of mobo but its the VIA chipset equivalent to the A7N8X. The parts I'm thinking of getting him. X800GTO 128MB GDDR2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102691 BIOSTAR NF4ST http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138248 Athlon 64 3000+ Venice http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103537 Price:$278 USD Aything i should change that could get better value out of this? This will be a gaming rig mostly. I can not go too much over $300, only maybe a dollar or 2.

Eeek, sorry to say, but if he wants to play any newer or new games, he should bite the bullet, and spend $150 - $175 on a GeForce 6800, or something of that level. Maybe he can bum some off of the Grandparents?

The processor is good, however, I dont like the mobo or the video card. I would get a better mobo (particualry the one in my sig) and for video get the Nivida 6600GT because it can be easily overclocked. Also I would upgrade to a 1GB RAM if possible.

If he can afford it, i would highly recommend getting this x1600XT 256MB card for only $150: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102657
Or the x1600PRO 256MB for $110: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131318
