Specs:
Shuttle AMD Athlon(m) 64 Processor 3500+ 2.21GHz,1GB of Ram And an Nvidia graphics card (cant remember which) i have windows XP installed all drivers are up to date (as far as i can tell) Hello everyone im haveing a couple problems with it so if its ok im going to number them to keep it organized. 1) Whenever i try and install and use programs such as zone alarm or laptop temp. monitor the computer crashes just after startup as its trying to load those programs into the start tray (the lower right hand corner with the little icons), then in order to fix it i have to start in safe mode and uninstall them so i can actually use the computer. 2) I play computer games a lot or at least id like to if this damn thing would work how its suposed to. when i log in mainly World of Warcraft the map loads and then other players start to load but half of them are displayed as unknown entity when i should be able to see their names i can look at the gear they have on and the gear on myself aswell but after about 20-30 seconds i get DCed from the server and my account i cant talk to NPC at all but i can see them. My computer also cant establish a connection with limewire it will connect weakly then disconnect and try again. Its not My ISP cause my little computer connects fine. I can surf the web without a problem and download google movies without a problem on the "bad" computer so i dont know whats up. 3) lastly it shows my HD as being ejectable in the lower right hand corner, it doesnt affect the computer at all its just ive never seen it before on another computer. well thats whats going on in a nutshell ive tried whipeing the computer and reinstalling everything and its still doing the same shit. I tried talking to shuttle but as i was stupid and told them that i took it on deployment with me they wont help me with the warranty and their tech support guys dont know whats going on they just follow a prompt and i can hardly understand them anyways (no offence to anyone) please E-mail me or post here ill check it and give you as much info as possible. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide, im pretty much at whits end with this computer and am ready to see how bullet resistant this thing is. |

I'm not exactly sure about the other problems but you mgith want to reinstall XP. I have never had problems like that and it could be a bad install. If you overclock, reset back to clock settings and see about that. Quote:

Thank you both for answering, World of Warcraft is an online only game so i dont know if thats when the problems start gamerman and ive reinstalled XP already twice so i dont think its a bad install of that either, i also dont overclock or anything like that.
MaKa thank you for the link ive turned off the programs that i recognized as being unecessary but im afraid of touching the stuff i dont recognize, ill try reinstalling zone alarm to see what happens. |

heynea4f yes, and yes i cleaned it weekly w/air and it performed fine. i was haveing the problem with it crashing at startup before i deployed and the problem with getting disconnected began 2 days ago and ive ben back almost 3 months(not an excuse). i tried reinstalling zone alarm MaKa after following your links instructions and it still wants to crash, i was able to freeze it on the blue screen this time as it was crashing and this is what it said:
stop:0x0000008E(0xC0000005,0x00000000,0x83FFFFD7,0 x00000000) beginning dump of physical memory physical memory dump complete the rest of the shit on the screen seemed like unnecisary verbage so i didnt write it down. you are right though it still could be cause of sand but im on the computer right now, its still working fine with the exclusion of the already mentioned problems. Thank you all for your time and help, i appreciate it. |

Are sounds like you have some file problems, within your OS.
one way to sort this is to do a windows fix by installing your windows install disc, the only problem with this it will remove any programs you have installed. But before doing any of this please could you take apicture of your screen and show use on here I say a picture as it dosnt sound like you will be able to dump the screen

Im having that problem wiht WoW too. I have no idea what the cause is. I was thinking maybe my h/d is causing it or my cpu. I know for a fact it is not my ISP.
