Default New guy in town

Hi, I'm new to the site, and to computers, not life. Long in the tooth? Maybe, but the long ones were pulled years ago.

Was wondering if this is the site for elementary questions, because I'll have'm. I'm a wood guy, so these things confuse the hell out of me.

This is my second home computer in four years. It's a year old Toshiba Satellite from Costco. XP, pentium 4. My old one got screwed-up from a virus or something. Had a guy out that said it'd cost more to fix than replace.

Anyway, is this the place for me?????????

welcome to computer forum, it is the place to ask that question and it depends on how much he charges to fix it. What exactly is wrong?

It's been over a year since I've use it, but I remember it was slowing down more and more. I'd boot it, go have lunch and maybe it'd be ready when I got back.

Sounds like either a spyware/malware scan would do you good.. or a new format. What OS do you run? Winme/2000/xp?

Windows 98/Intel celeron, but my lovely daughter robbed the key board and display screen. Is there a way to hook it up to this laptop or would that be dangerous for the laptop?
