Default Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have been having problems with windows and I.Ex. From which i have since deleted and re-installed win.xp on my laptop. But it has gone back to its old habits of staling and making a clunking sound. Any ideas????

if its making a clunking sound then it has to do with hardware, and reinstalling windows wont help you there.

Do you know where the sound is coming from?

not 100% sure sounds like it is coming from the disk drive , althought i know this is not true.It isnt constant though. I does get run pretty hot and i thought that this could have something to do with it.

Clunking noises may be coming from the HD. It may have gone bad.

Open up your case, start up your computer, and try and identify what is making that noise.
