Default dvd/cd drive wont play these!

my dvd/cd drive is annoying me sooooo much, at first i couldnt play dvd`s only cd`s, but i took it to a pc shop near where i live and the bloke installed a program called power dvd. so know it plays cd`s and dvd`s, but now it wont play pc games. this is what happen`s



i put a game in and install it then its fine but when i come to play the game. my laptop crashes and a message comes up on the screen that there is an error. and when i take the disc out, my screen has gone all sorts of colours what can i do



i have been told that i have to go on my computer and change the settings is this right??


do i need a new disk drive if so will i be-able to play pc games and will i have to re-install power dvd??

Powerdvd by Cyberlink is an excellent video player for dvds and mpeg II type
files as well. You won't need to reinstall any software unless the original was
provided when buying a cd or dvd drive where the disk is coded for one drive.

Something other then the drive is the problem there. You either have a video
software/driver issue or something in Windows could be damaged. You could
try lowering the desktop settings if at 1024x768 or higher down to 800x600 to
see if that helped. How much memory do you have installed on the portable?
