Do you want to re-install windows XP or reformat? If you want to reformat, you can simply do it from the win xp CD. Boot up on the CD, delete any partitions and remake them (so wipe out all data, and re-install).

If your just trying to reinstall windows, I think you can also do that from the CD.

To Boot from your CD, go in BIOS and make sure the CD Drive is set to boot before your Hard Drive so your computer will look to boot from your CD before your Hard Drive.

But with Norton Ghost, it copies EVERYTHING on your HDD to several disks, so the OS is on it too.

To reinstall it, you need to run Norton Ghost, then select "Reinstall" or something like that.

Are you asking how to restore a ghost image? If its on a CD/DVD, you just boot off of the first disc. If its on a hard drive, you open the program in windows, and select "restore", but it cant be on the same partition.
