Well Service Pack 2 comes with an Inbound Firewall, which is a big improvement for those people that dont have any firewall. It also comes with new features, such as a pop-up blocker for internet explorer, and several security fixes.
If i were you, i would get it.

I will not be getting SP2 in any way, shape, or form. There are a few applications that I have that I'd have to upgrade or replace($$$) in order for them to keep on working, and I can't afford them. I use either Windows' built in firewall or ZoneAlarm Free (depending on what I'm doing), browsers that block popups already, avast! anti-virus, and stay away from doubtful websites. My machine works just fine as it is now with SP1. Plus I've heard that roughly half of the PCs it's installed on run really slow, or are unable to boot up properly... quite a few horror stories.

You should use SP2, it has many fixed bugs and security leaks. I have no problems using it.

SP2 works fine with me, too. Gives me some sense of security...
