Someone just gave me a few older hardrives..not very big...but usable...just want to put together a few very basic computers
The only problem is...the drives have Win2000 on them....I'd like to put Win98 on them...I can't seem to get this done...I can't format the disc for some reason..It doesn't seem to find the disc...I tried to use fdisk to re-partition the drive..but it's not working....i've never really done anything like this...so it's not going well Any ideas??....how can I clean everything off these discs to put another OS on them??... |

hook it up as slave drive on your computer, then do the cleaning and stuff.

cable select position. If the drives are too old such as ATA66 and not ATA100 or ATA133 that would be another reason for the lack of detection. If you have an XP recovery or full install disk you can use the option to delete the current partition and then cancel the install will wipe a drive. But fdisk will accomplish the same. The last option to clean a drive is a zero fill utility that writes zeros to the drive to completely wipe everything. Many will set that to run overnight due to the slower process there. Check jumper settings and cables too. |
