Red face intel vs. AMD + dual core

Hello!

If i get a PC, should i get a intel or a AMD procesor???
This is what i mainly do: School on the internet, games, lots of movies (playing and burnin') and intenet. We got a dial up connection 9if it does any differenences)

By the way, i heard someone say a AMD 2x, is that a AMD dual core? or what? Thx

Chris

Yep, AMD X2 (Not 2X) is a dual core processor. It is great for what you want to do. I would recommend their cheapest one, the X2 3800+, if you have a higher budget, go for a X2 4400+ or better.

The lowest model (X2 3800+), sells for around $300. Even though its the lowest X2, it's still very good.

well if you're not going to buy, you probably should wait until just before you buy...because newer models are coming out.

yea, you sounds like you'd like a single core proc. don't get me wrong, the dual cores are amazing i own one myself... but it doesn't sound to me like you'll be needing it at all.
what games?
internet + movie watching only requires a lower grade processor like a sempron or celeron.
in fact, i'd suggest a decent video card (or at least not a $10 one) i used to have a radeon 7000 and it lagged while watching movies.
