Dual Core vs Single Question

Hi I plan on upgrading to this PC:
ASUS A8N-E Motherboard
EVGA E-GEFORCE 7900 GT
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core
I plan on using the PC for gaming only (I have a mac). I’m wondering if I should go to the Dual Core even though it may be slower for some of today’s games. Or should I get the Dual Core because they plan on phasing Dual Core into games within the next year. There is about $110 diff from Single to Dual Core.
