Default hard drive to hard drive

Ok, say I have a hard drive on one computor, and I get a new computor. Is there any way to take the first hard drive out, put it in the new computor, and then copy the first hard drive to the second. Then I would want to remove the small hard drive, origional, leaving the second hard drive on the new computor with the information.

I just suggested this to another guy...

Take the old drive, plug it into the new computer (without taking out or unplugging the new one) and copy the files out. You need to find an IDE connector, and a power plug. Plug both of those into the old drive and boot up with normal one. The old drive will be under My Computer. I just did it myself 3 days ago.

Nice program called transfer your pc, installs on old then installs on new plug in usb or paralle cable transfers data only, not programs only drawback. you have to have the same programs on both, works great and use as many times as you want..........
