i built a new computer last winter and i installed windows xp home oem on it. i'm looking foward to upgrading my computer to vista! once it comes out, but i heard some where that once you install the xp home OEM you can't upgrade your operating system. can anyone verify or negate this?

I don't know where you heard that, but absolute rubbish. No operating system is hardwired into your pc. All it ever takes is a format and a new installation disk and you're set, and with vista I'm sure you wouldn't even need a format.
Whether the person who told you was under the illusion that OEM was something special or not I don't know, but all OEM means is that it doesn't come with a fancy box. |
