Default Installing an OS

When i try to install my OS onto a computer with a new mobo and cpu. it get to the point where it sais setup is starting windows. then freezes. the HDD worked fine before i changed the mobo. it recognizes the hdd in the bios but when the cd gets to setup is starting windows it freezes. i used windows xp pro and windows xp home and neither got past that point. any suggestions?

If I were you I'd get a copy of The Ultimate Boot CD. It boots in the same way as the Windows setup disk, and has all sorts of diagnostic tests to test the cpu and RAM. I would run those just to rule out any hardware problems. It is possible that this is the cause.
