Default New video card

hi all
I just bought a new computer with amd chip and a viper x1300 512mb video card. My computer came with a integrated radeon 200 express graphics shared memory. I installed the card before i ever turned the comuter on. I started my pc for the first time with my monitor plugged via the dvi port in the viper card.

Ok what im lost on is i went to disable my onboard video card through device manager. The instructions with the card said i must do it with my monitor plugged via the onboard video connector so i plugged it in and have tried everything to get my monitor to work thrugh this port with no luck.

Did the video card installation automatically disable this port? (the viper cards dvi and vga ports are working) or is there something terribly wrong with my onboard video connector? I figured it should work no matter and im starting to get worried.

If someone could shed some light it would be greatly appreciated.
thnx

I have put alot of video cards in computers and always just pluged the monitor into the new port and left the old one blank and dident play with it to leave it as a back up incase something were to happen to the new card. It should be fine if you just leave it I dont think disabling it would do anything.

It could be automagically detecting a discrete card and disabling the onboard. Just plug your monitor into the x1300 you can always disable the onboard that way assuming it's not already (if you get no video from the VGA port on the motherboard it's most likely disabled).
