Default Power Supply Compatibility

Hey I've asked this in another thread but never got the answer...basically im planning on buying a new graphics card (7600GT or 7600GS) and I have a HP a1310n with generic parts. I was told that I would need a new power supply even though I have a 300W power supply which is running my Athlon 3700+.

So my question is that is there an issue of compatiblity when you try to put non HP parts into HP computers...for example I was told I should go with this Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817174023

Will this fit inside my HP PC? Or do I have to order a new power supply from HP?
Anyone know of any compatibility issues when it comes to putting NON HP Parts into a HP computer...or any brand like Compaq, Dell, Gateway, etc....

Thanks and sorry for posting two threads on this....

Pop the machine open and try to find the specs on your power supply. Your computer is basically identical to mine, but I can't check it here...not until I go home tommarow But it should work just fine besides possibly not having enough juice.

I popped my machine open an copied the stuff on the side of the power supply down...if thats what you mean by the specs..here they are

ATX-300-12Z Rev
Input 100-127V-7A, 200-240V-4A 60/50Hz
Output +12V=/19A - 12V=/8A
300 Max +5V=/30A +5VSB/2A
+3.3V=/28A

+5V & +3.3V 180W Max +5V & +12V 288W Max

(The equal signs are meant to represent a "---" under a "__")
Donno if it means anything

they're voltage and current specs, +12/19A is 12 volts at 19amps, voltage times current will give you the wattage for that line, if you add them all up, should equall the powersupply +\-5%, somewhere on the web someone explained how much power you needed for each component. Lost that info in my last format. IE: for every 7meg of ram you need 1 watt, I think.... I just picked up a 600w ps for $29, new, the +5v was at 50A, the +12 was at 25A, should be good, and it was for my 3700 also.
