Default Looking for a new desktop

Now I am looking for a desktop that I can upgrade for the future, it would have to last me at least 4 years or so. It's mainly a computer for college, but I want it to be able to multitask (several applications running at the same time.) Also for it to be at least decent in the gaming department (I almost never buy FPS PC games, only games I have ever bought for PC were the Sim City games, Rome Total War games, and stuff like that.) And I don't need a monitor because I am thinking of buying this:

Monitor:

Now I have been looking through some sites, and trying to get more knowledge on how to customize a desktop for my needs. And I ended up customizing these 2 desktops. Could you guys help me out and give me some advise and if they are worth the money, and if it fits my needs, or maybe I put too much of something I won't really use. Or maybe you can help me customize another model of PC from those sites that will be of greater value for my money. Thanks.

Dell:

Note: I know I can probably save money by building it myself, but I am not really that comfortable with doing it and would prefer to have it shipped already made.

Everything up there is a ripoff. Period. That monitor for $500? And the computer from Dell was $1,000.....I'm building a computer right now that's better than that one for $500. I would suggest ordering the parts, and if you're not comfortable building it yourself, you can bring them all down to your local computer store, and they'll charge maybe $100 to build it.

Dells are incredibly hard to upgrade in the future and offer very limited options.

Dells are terrible for gaming, they only offer Intel processors which arent as good for gaming as AMD.

3. That monitor is nice, but dont buy it from bestbuy
