Default Is it worth the extra £?

I've only just recently bought my K8N Neo2 Platinum, but my 6800 that's sitting in it is damaged, almost certainly by a faulty motherboard I had to send back. Games only run at about 10fps, dual-monitor display's colour balance fluctuates wildly, and ATITool can't run more than a minute before the temperature shoots up to 80+ degrees (even with a Zalman VF-700CU and Arctic Silver 5) and artifacts start appearing. So basically I need to replace the card.

Now, the question is, do you feel it is worth me forking out an extra £80 for a PCI-E compatible mobo, as well as upgrading to a PCI-E card, or is the speed increase not worth the extra dough in your opinion, and it'd be better just getting a high-spec AGP one, like the 7800GS?
