I have always liked ATI a little better.. and with the new video cards out, they are giving nvidia a run for their money. I think ATI has always had a better "picture" quality over nvidia. Its not always FPS you look at, you look at what kind of picture they pruduce also.

Ati does not have better picture quality, I have seen the comparison between a X1950 pro and 7900GT and that is certainly not true. I'm sure the next generation Ati cards are no different. Framerates are important too, its useless to have good "quality" graphics but it runs like a slideshow, Nvidia has the best balance of graphical grunt and quality.

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards....=547&card2=544 ATI's Shader clock, Bandwith, and Pixel fill rate are slightly higher... Making it process shader operations quicker, video game graphics are pulling shaders like crazy now, you know that... And what do shaders do? And another thing, ATI's 3DMark06 scores sometimes whip Nvidia's 3DMark06 scores. There's FPS and then there's quality... I don't think ThatGuy16 is all that regretful of his choice in cards, too bad he could've had 2 more FPS with an 8800GT...(For what $60 extra?) ![]() ![]() |

good image quality. I don't care that it is not the newest latest thing because I don't do games. Anyway, I'm not sure anybody else is intersted, so I'm congratulating myself, yay kohlrabi croce. I think I shaved $300 total off the cost of my new build, by also going with a P35 mobo and not an x38, and by not buying an 8800 gts 512mb graphics card. |

If you just look at the price and the monetary side of things then of course AMD/ATi will win. They are supposed to be the budget option. But when you factor in the other aspects such as performance to the price and other extra features, then Nvidia will win hands down. For example the HD3870 is cheap but for just a little more you can get your hands on an 8800GT and that leaves the HD3870 coughing in its dust.
