Default surround sound help please.

Just got these speakers ...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836121126

They are great but only one problem ...

only the 2 front speakers seem to be working for me !!!

Now it gave me 3 wires to plug in, a green one, an orange (or was it pink? i dunno) one , and a black one. I was able to find a slot for all of them with my mic still pluged in and a free blue slot still there untouched ...

Turned on my speakers and only the 2 front speakers were working ... so i experimented.

I put the black wire where the green one was, and i was able to hear the center speaker. Then i put the orange wire in the green slot , and was able to hear the rear speakers ... now i know the speakers arent broken or anything .

I also went into sound and audio and tried every single speaker setting in there and none of them worked ...

My sound care is called Realtek Ac97 Audio ... if i can get any info on what i have to do to make all the speakers work like they should, id really appreciate it.

thanks for any help i can get.

well it sounds like you have onboard sound

maybe your front 2 speakers do not work because the onboard sound only supports 2.0 sound and not 5.1, or maybe your software sound settings are incorrect....

as Beyond said, list your motherboard, it will help everyone to help you

Make sure that the colors of the cords and the color of the inputs match up.

Also see if there is an option on the back of the sub to switch between 2.1, 4.1, and 5.1 modes.

Im pretty sure this is my mother board, http://www.directron.com/k8nslif.html

The reason i say pretty sure is because i dont know how to find out what i have without opening the computer and i dont have the manual, and i used this program called Belarc advisor. It basicly just tells me whats in my computer, and it gave me this by system model. "LTD MS-7185 1.0"

I searched for that on google and found that one. It does seem like it would be the one thats in my computer to so im pretty sure it is

Now am i screwed with this mother board or is there somthing i can do to make the surround sound work?

well, assuming the motherboard you listed is the motherboard that you actually have, your onboard audio DOES support surround sound... (Audio: 7.1 channel audio codec RealTek ALC850)

do you have any of the things that came with your motherboard?

Default same problem

Hello

Sorry for making a post on your thread but if you do find out the solution please tell me. I have a sound blaster live 5.1 sound card with the Logitech 5300. I tried everything but I can't get the rear left and right speaker to work. I don't even know if it's my sound card. If you find out please tell me. I been playing around with it for 2 months and it doesn't work. Thanks alot
