I've always used optical, actually I'm not sure of the difference between laser and optical. I thought they were just 2 words for the same thing...

there is a difference: each uses different engines to track movement.

laser is a newer technology, and can track more than 2,000dpi, whereas an optical tracks between 400 and 800.

For removable media they would be. Let's see you have lazer printers-optical mice-lazer disks-optical drives-etc.. It depends on what the question refers to.

I am using a laser mouse, and its much more precise and when up to 2000dpi. Its very fast and sometimes hard to use.

Its better for gaming, ecspecially in an FPS.

I also use a laser mouse (G5), works better than optical and is more accurate. It also doesnt shine a bright red, so it doesnt light up your room when you flip it over.

Yah my optical wont work on plexiglass either. I've used it for gaming though...never had a problem just cranking up sensitivity in the game. It's been too fast sometimes. Or do you guys mean response level? Compared to a Razer mouse it's not as sensitive to small movements, but that's almost a good thing for shaky hands like mine lmao.
