Default new laptop.

i'd like to get a laptop for college.
anyone know what the best retailer would be?
i want something that's AMD turion 64 preferably... maybe sempron (i want 64-bit)
at least 512mb of ram, hopefully 1024mb.
any graphics really, i'll still be using my desktop for gaming. so intregrated is fine....
preferably around a 14-15" LCD screen so its nice and portable and won't get in the way....
hopefully 60gb - 120gb hard drive, at least 5400rpm...
something with 3hrs+ on battery life. (probably 12 cell?)

ive checked out HP, they seem decent... but a little pricey.
lookin to spend around $700 and under if possible... no more than $850 tho!
im willing to bend if the price is good enough. i'll settle for a sempron...
can anyone find anything for me?

In terms of the battery, my old Dell got up to 6 hours of life with an 8-cell battery, but it was on low brightness and the processor clocked down. I got an average of 4 hours of use under normal usage.

well i checked tomshardware.com and i don't think a change from sempron to turion is worth the money for the tiny increase in performance. not to mention the fact that i have an amazing computer already, and if something needs major processing i can just transfer it and process it.
i think im gonna go with a sempron processor...
i found one on tigerdirect thats got a pretty good pricetag on it!

tell me what you think!

Its a nice laptop and all... but DO NOT buy it if you need long lasting battery.

I had a similar Acer laptop, except it was a Celeron M and i only got 1:15 on lowest settings, when i was just browsing the web or something i got under an hour when it was fully charged.

I would not get anything lower than a 6-cell battery.

it doesnt say on there, but its similar to what i got. That may have a good battery, but MAKE SURE it is not a 4-cell, since they last less than an hour. I would try to get an 8-cell, but a 6-cell might do.
