If I buy I pre-owned computer, delete the exising partition, and reisntall a completely new operating system in the free space, shouldn't the computer now work like new?

Of course I wanna do it legally *wink, wink*
. Just kidding, I actually want to just install a linux distribution on a another computer, since I don't really want to bother with partioning my existing hard drive and having two OS's on it. And with that I've got another question: If I have two different operating systems on a single hard drive, isn't the memory for each cut in half- reducing performance? Thank you again ![]() |

It is very very hard to have 2 operating systems on a single partition, if that is what you are talking about. On a single hard drive is fine. And no, the memory isn't cut in half, because you are only running one at a time.
And you don't need to reformat to install linux, most actually come as live CDs |
