I Recently acquired a very very VERY old Latitude cpi Laptop. Was working fine where I bought it, brought it home on about a 20 minute walk, went to switch it on and the screen was barley visible. If I shine a bright light on it,
I can just make out the screen. Can’t be sure whether it’s the inverter or backlight. Only information I can go on is that it cut out strait away. There wasn’t any flickering or half dark screen, it simply cut out. Anyone know which one it could be? Cheers |

Sounds like it could be the backlight or it could be a loose cable. The only way to tell for sure is to open it up and take a gander. However if you're not that experienced with laptops/computers in general I suggest giving it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Those wires short out all the time. It's a very common problem with laptops, which is why I try to only close my screen when I plan to take my laptop off somewhere
![]() My dad's laptop is really bad, but sometimes moving the screen back and forth a few times will get a solid connection again.

I had a look inside the other day, didn’t get too far before I gave up and thought I’m not really the person to be doing this (not much experiance with laptops
). I’ll take another look and see if I can maybe push in a couple of wires or otherwise I’ll seek an expertThanks for your help |
