Default Desktop/Laptop

I want to get some files from my desktop over to a lap top....so my question is how do I connect them so i can do that.

2) find the ip of your computer. to do this, click start>run, type cmd. here, type ipconfig. remember the ip address that is given.

3) get on your other computer that you want to send the file to. click start>run, and type \\(insert ip address here)\(insert what you typed in the box that i told you to remember)

it will open up the folder that contains the files, and you will be able to drag them onto your computer.
