Nothings set in stone but usually AMD for gamers and P4's for multi-tasking, video editing etc.
Then you need to weigh up the value for money aspect also, to be honest as a general user you probably wouldnt go wrong with either.

that question is extremely vague. i mean a 64 bit is good but some 64 bit can not beat some pentium and vice versa. for value for money i would go for amd

defend for what your pc is used for but mostly amd handles better thean intel

It depends, if your gaming then the Athlon 64 would be better, of course it depends on the model that you would be getting.
