hp's are the most returned printers in the industry- trust me i worked the tech bench at 3 different best buys and 1 frys electronics. they also make 53% of their revenue as a company every year on ink and paper sales.

the old hp's are nice. the new ones are made to last 1-2 years max and cost you alot in ink.

canon is the best for speed/quality/ink cost.

So does every other printer on the market (mainly photo printers). As for your experience, work 12 hour days at 3 local tech shops and then go freelance for a few years before you start banging out info which might not actually be true.

As for a good printer basically the cheapest one you can find, as long as you're not doing major photo printing you'll be fine.

P.s. Just saw you bought one, hope it treats you well.

While most cheap printers will be ok for basic use, don't be surprised if you start using it more consistantly and the ink starts costing you an arm and a leg. Not really a negative comment, just a fair warning...

Yah, for ink though I'd use the discount ink or after market ink from someplace like www.carrotink.com
