Default Comp. lost mouse and keyboard all of a sudden

So the kids had some stuff on the comp and my wife did and I did also.
We just kept minimizing.
I hear a beep. Then the mouse is erratic. I barely had any power left. It was like I had no resources left. I checked Motherboard Monitor and the temps and voltages were good. One temp was at 40C
I restarted and I lost the keyboard and mouse. I had to hard-boot.
I restarted and again I had no key board of mouse. The keyboard had 3 lites on . Mum Lock Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. I could not shut them off and that proved to me I had no Basic input.
I hard boot and unplugged the computer from the wall outlet and I disconnected and reconnected the mouse and keyboard.
Everything is good now.

It did rain real hard here just before that happened
and like I say, we had a lot running at the time.

Did the comp get overloaded or was there a voltage surge or was it something else???

sounds like a voltage surge...im no expert but i don't think it would do that just because you had too many windows open...i recall a friend having the same problem during storms when the power came and went...donno if im much help but hell your computers good now...thats all that matters lol

I agree. I had the comp loaded up a lot of times and first time it ever did that.
