i baught a hard drive enclosure for a hard drive that i've taken out of my old computer.
in the old computer it was read as 127gb. but it's 250gb
i put the hard drive in the enclosure and plugged it into my new pc, it still says its 127gb.
the enclosure can use >250gb hdds

You have to delete the existing partition and make a new one. I guess your old motherboard maxed out at 127gb which is common. You can repartition it through Control Panel> Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management.
