Vista isn't worth it...they're all about design. I really hate one of the latest builds...I'm sticking with XP.

Same here there isn't much difference anyway except as Flipper said the design, yes it may look good but is it really worth the money for the Operating System itslef, plus any costs of upgrade neccessary, which from what i have seen, are likely to be needed.
I'm with XP!!!

Well, a couple of months ago, they scrapped like 60% of the system to completely re-do it, and not just the GUI, the whole kernel too.

Yeah, to do what? Make it more like linux by planning on doing all this root password crap? Vista is just a money maker...now people who don't know what they're doing with computers are going to be running Vista! They have enough trouble with XP! Not to mention they'll end up having 1gb ram which they don't need at ALL!

it really doesn't sound worth it, and my school seems to be classified in the category flipper mentioned, people who don't know what they're doing, my IT teacher said to me today that he was getting all new computers for one of the IT rooms, that would be ready for vista, when everything runs fine with XP, and would be better if these computers were higher specced and ran xp, they would be pretty good, there would be no need to upgrade them, but i aint ocmplaining, it means i'll be able to try vista a lot, before i even consider getting it

It does seem like it's not worth it, but for the gamers out there, your going to have to upgrade sometime if you want to play the latest games, since almost all new games will only be compatible with Vista.

The specs are crazy! If I remember right, XP's minimum RAM was 128mb and recommended was 256mb. I had 256mb and it sucked. So if the same holds true for Vista, I'll need 2gigs of ram for it to run decently And 15gigs to install Vista is shocking. I've only got 40gigs and it's cramped now as it is. I'll have to spend $$$$ on a new computer with all the bells and whistles to run Vista.

Shouldn't the trend be "smaller, lighter, simpler"?

And if anybody wants the transparent windows stuff, I'd say just get WindowBlinds
