Default Is your PC "Windows Vista" Ready?

All,
Just found this cool Beta software "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" from Microsoft and thought it would be nice to share this with all of you.
This Utility Software will check your PC and will let you know if you PC is ready or what you need to make it ready... If there is any other Thread about this already, accept my apology.

No action required on everything except "Watch and Record TV" (I don't have a Tuner card) and "Premium Photo, Music and Movie Experiences" (although the explanation why is rubbish and it'll do fine). I checked all the boxes except the bottom business one. Interestingly though, the utility didn't detect that my graphics card is fried and needs replacing...

Default Second The Notion On No Action Required!

Besides Vista not liking the AGP card I have no plans at this time to upgrade until a new case is built with multiple hard drives where one can be set aside for dual OSs. On everything like printers, sound card, etc. no action required was seen on the list of items. What that means is that if this old case had a little less memory and a slower cpu......?

Yeah also the funny thing is that when I ran it on my PC, it did not even detect my TV Tuner card. It just showed that I need to have TV Tuner card in order to watch TV.
May be being the BETA software, its not fully functional and may contain some bugs. but overall I'm ready for "Vista Ultimate edition" regardless of what the software says...

My computer isn't ready... because of my video card I only have 448 MB of RAM left and the minimum is 512mb, but I'd like more than that

It goes to show the newer the OS the more memory will be needed for running newer programs. The real problem is that the softwares are far from keeping up with the hardwares. Sometimes it doesn't pay to have the latest "bells and whistles" due to that.

...it says I can't watch or record TV on this machine. Um...I have a WinTV PVR 150 AND firewire on this machine. Heh, this is the machine I do my video editing on! Same with the photos and movie deal. My video card does have TV Out. Though, maybe it's because it doesn't have component out. This cheapo card doesn't even have SVHS out! Says some of my drivers are out of date too... I probably should upgrade them for XP...

That download is somewhat limited there since I capture and edit video on a regular basis with no issues. But this is only a very limited freebie since everyone has different hardware/software environments. When you see the minimum system requirements after the release then you will have a better idea of what you will actually need. The best this will do is give you a rather rough estimate.
