Exclamation Extenal Hard Drive Got Sick

Hi all, I'm new here.

I have an 160GB extenal hard drive which has been used for about a year! It's not from Maxtor or any branches, it's from a hard drive and a case.

It has been working well till yesterday when it disconnected by itself. From that time, everytime I do something heavy on it like scanning my music library by Winamp, play a game which is saved on this hard drive or anything can make it works heavily, it will disconnected from my laptop.

If I just copy files (small files, not 1GB or 2 GB files), do something lightly on it, it works fine!

Any ideas? Don't tell me to check it by scandisk or something, because it will disconnect if I scan.

I think the problem could be the case. Do u think if I buy a new case for it, would it be solved? Or could it be the hard drive problem?

Thank you guys!
