Default Portable Hardrive Question

I have a Western Digital 80 gig Passport Hardrive, I seems to work great. I bought it to back up my Frontpage websites.

Would it be ok to leave this drive connected all the time and do my website work on that drive or could that drive become infected by some computer virus and put those files at risk of being damaged.

Thanks

as long as the hard drive is connected to you computer it is at risk
and the risk is higher when you work on files on this hard drive
so yes it could get infected
so you should finish all your work on your primary hard drive and do a little scan before you back it up to make sure your backup is clean.

If it's a hassle to physically recconect the drives, you can get a powerbar to power it down or even cheaper, just disconnect the drive from windows
