Default New pc speaker problems?

Hello, I have just bought a second hand pair of pc speakers on Ebay. They are the type that plugs into the back of a pc into a port in the back. The lead is going from the lilac port in the back of the speaker and into the lilac port of the pc. I have set up the speakers as I believe to be correct but there is no sound at all. The seller said they were 'plug and play' but I have plugged them in with no luck. Am I supposed to intstall a driver to get them working? They are unbranded. How can I get them working?

The standard color for audio out is green, so check it's connected to a green plug(not that all are, but most...) Be sure the speakers are powered. Unless they don't have an amp at all, they require power to get any audio. Unfortunetly they can't simply bypass the amps.

If it still doesn't work, try some speakers or headphones you know work. Try the different ports and see what happenes. You can't hurt anything by trying them all, just be sure the volume isn't too loud so you're not blasted away when you do find the correct one

hopefully the speakers were in working condition when you bought it off ebay.
used or new?

like previously said by The_Other_One, try some other speaker or headphones that you know definitely works.. identify the right connector, usually green..

then try the ones you bought again. if it doesn't work.. its time to review the listing post on ebay.. then contact the ebay seller
