This is driving me nuts.
I've had two computers, a DEC and an eMachines, that have always beeped once after a successful POST. Friend of mine has had a Dell, and two eMachines, that have NEVER had a beep; they've just started right up. Everything I've read says a PC should have a beep after a POST. Does yours? Tom

Usually depends on the BIOS manufacturer, also for the record I have an Asus A8N-E board which never beeped until I upgraded the BIOS hence my thread here wondering what was going on.
Worrie when your computer makes more than one beep

Think all of mine does that one beep OK! Even the old socket 7s I have, think on some bios if you have the memory test disabled it wont do the Beep, but not for sure!

i think if you read the manual you will know what every beep means
because there are different kinds of beeps for example : short beep ->successful POST continuous long beep -> no RAM or VGA and so on may be your BIOS has different config.

Mine beeps when I cold boot, but when I restart I get nothing. I think it doesnt POST when you're restarting so it doesnt beep.
