Default poweredge 1600sc

I have a dell poweredge 1600sc with 1024mb true parity ram and a single 2.0 xeon processor. The problem I am having is this. Everytime I install a sound card I get a blue screen with "Parity error-memory error system halted". I have tried several known good sound cards in every pci slot on this system. My NIC card works fine in any of the pci slots. This error comes up right after I log onto windows. I am using windows xp pro. There is no onboard sound on this system and it works fine as long as the sound card is out. I have tried changing irq addresses but have had no luck.. I updated the bios to the latest version and have updated all software on the system. Any suggestions? Well other than throwing this server out the door.
Thanks for your help.
