Default Windows Updates

For about the 3rd time in the last month, I have dl'd the lastest Windows Genuine Advantage.. No problem since I have legit OS. But now my firewall is asking for permission for WGA to access the internet....LOL I just said NO..... Why does Bill Have the right to explore my comp? I thought that was illegal.

No. All it does is check the with the server to see if your copy of windows is genuine.

It does nothing else.

Your firewall's asking your permission for the Windows Genuine Advantage to check with it's server to see if you have a valid CD key, it's not exploring your computer.

It's not phoning home, it's just comparing it with Microsoft's list of valid CD Keys. There no way for it to know if you have a valid OS unless it checks with it's database. And everything is automated, it's not like bill's getting a phone call asking if your computer is valid.
