I would go with the Asus A8N-SLI motherboard.

I would go with neither, because they are open box. But if I had to pick, then I would go with the Asus

You can get great deals on open box, as long as everything you need is in it. I try and search for them before I go to the regular section.

whats a closed box and open box?
the last thing i need to figure out is motherboard, but its pretty confusing
Whats the best board 100-200 dollars?

amd 3800
pci for soundcard
tv tuner
fw/usb

I dont need gaming extreme overclocking just something that will keep things together

Default finally purchased motherboard

I went with this

its going to go with an athalon opteron 165 and 2 gigs corsair ram
it says the bios is plug and play
i didnt want to go too complicated as its a first time self build

any experiences with this board?

Good choice for price. Only one reason i wouldn't have chose this board; it RAM type is only DDR 400. And personally thats getting a little outdated now, most newer boards support DDR2 533 at least, mine supports DDR2 667
