Default free satellite maps

i'm trying to get some satellite images of my backyard to see how the gardening and landscaping looks. i have tried google maps/earth and Windows Live Local but cant get any good quality. i guess i live too far out for higher detial. does any one know of a site that has good image quality and is free?

It was the same with me but then google updated it a few months after and now my house looks perfect...

The satellite photos are anywherre from 10 to a few years old, your not going to see what it looks like in real-time.

Ya most maps aren't even updated which is dumb. TerraServer's latest maps are from 1998.

High resolution, realtime satellite photos on demand are something the .gov and .mil are determined to not let you have access to - and for good reason.
