Default Nero DVD Data Burning Problem. Please help.

Hello

I was just trying to burn data files to a DVD earlier today. Everytime after 4-5 mins it gives me a burn failed error. I never had the problem before. I thought it would work if I get a newer version of nero but it didn't solve the problem. Then i assume maybe something wrong with my computer so I decided to format it and clean it up which it doesn't solve the problem. I am using the Pioneer DVD-RW 107D. If you guys know what is the problem or if anyone had the same problem please reply back with some answers. Thank you very much in advance.

Try different brands of DVDs. Stick to name brands, not cheap junk.
Make sure no other programs are running, just Nero.
How old's the burner? How heavily have you used it?

I just tried updating the firmware but it's not working. I downloaded version 1.22 since that is the newest one that is out for my model. After downloading I double click the icon and it opened the command prompt screen and after 3 secs it says "available target not found". If there another way I can update the firmware? I have checked my firmware version is 1.18.

I been using the same brand DVDs for about 2 years now. I been using that burner for about 2 years and I used it about 10-15 times a month. When i burn my stuff I never have any other programs running. The brand DVD i use are the Fuji DVD-R.

Let's see now:
24 months x 15 discs a month = 360 discs. Not too bad for two years.
No other programs running? Good.
Fuji? Excellent.
If everything else is up to snuff, I'd dare say you've covered all the bases and it's time to try a new burner, and make sure you have return privileges, like 14 days or so. I had an NEC die after just six months! (about 40 burns) If the new burner works fine, I'd say that your old one is quitting on you. Just my two centavos.

Damn that is not good to hear. Maybe you are right that is dying on me. I had a NEC one before too and it died on me in six months. This really sucks I can't even afford to buy another one right now. Sigh.

I was just checking newgg and I was wondering if this would be a good burner I should get to replace the one I have since you said it's time for me to get a new one. Here is the link:

Give me some feedback. Thank you.

PS: Thank you for all your help answering my questions and problems I had earlier

$37??? Buy it, you fool, before they change their minds! LOLOLOL
At that price, don't screw around. The 30 day defective return privilege is good too.
Another good brand is LiteOn. eMachines replaced the burnt-out NEC with one and has worked perfectly for two years.
And you're welcome for all the help. My pleasure. Please let me know what happens.
