I noticed that at school, Macromedia has a WIDE varity of text styles you can choose from to use, while mine, which is the same version and all, only has a few. Are there any add-ons to this to get all the text selections?

Im not sure but if you download font fromdafont.com I might let you use the font in macromedia!
update: just checked the list of font in macromedia and the fonts are in there so you can just go to dafont.com and download them and put them in your font folder and they should come up the next time you start up macromedia.

Yeah, if it's just the fonts. Just find the fonts that you want or need.. download them and put them in the fonts folder. This goes along with almost any program that use fonts like Word, Photoshop, Excel, etc...
However, if they are features that change the text... like dropping shadow or something like that.. then it might not be the fonts.

I have drop shadow and all that, but I'd like more fonts...
...where could I go to get them?
