Hey guys,
i got a 250gb hard disk that was working up until last night when i got this error - http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/7...60622372gn.jpg i managed to get my other comps 40gb hard disk out and im running of that at the second. I connected up the 250gb one and formatted it and now when i boot the comp up (with both HD's installed) i get saying 'NTLDR is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart'. If i just have the 250gb i get the same error, if i just connect the 40gb one up it works fine. How can i fix this ?? Since the 250gb is now empty with no OS. *(I dont have a floppy drive but have DVD-RW + USB pen) I tried to run XP CD at start up when it says something about run from CD/DVD i pressed enter but it didnt load the CD it just comes up with that ''NTLDR is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart'' error. SOmeone please help, i been trying to fix it all day and havn't got anywhere. KIIS102 |

Well if your 250GB HD is the HD that the computer is booting off of without an OS, that'd be why you're getting the messages. Change your boot sequence in the BIOS when both HD's are connected to make sure that the computer is booting from teh HD with Windows installed.

try this
insert the xp cd rom into the drive (supposing you have one) boot of the cd into the windows XP setup. and when asked press "R" for repair. when you go into a black screen with white writing, it will ask which partition you want to fix. select it, and in the flashy dash thingy type "FIXBOOT" and also "CHKDSK" ok. and that should sort your problem. it might work with the cdrom in the drive while booting to the hard drive, but i think it means you have to keep it in to boot into windows everytime.

Im just using the 250gb harddrive. ive narrowed it down to a corrupted or missing boot.ini file. when i go to rebuild it though, it says it cant find any boot.ini file. ive tried reformatting probably 8 times, and after i reformat i get missing ntldr. i copy ntldr and ntdetect and then i get the boot.ini error message, followed shortly by the missing hal.dll message. is there anyway to do a similar fix to the ntldr? maybe get a copy of hal.dll and copy it into my OS using the recovery console? if so where would it go?
