I can't turn off my computer.
When i start my computer there is this sound that it will play. the sound that you get when there is an error. it sounds like someone droped a rock on a bucket.
After the computer is on, i can't turn it off again no matter how many time i click Restart, Turn off the computer just sits and does nothing. But i did noticed one thing, and it works every time. There is this REGEDIT.EXE in the windows tast manager, it was never there before. If i right click it and click end process and try to turn off the computer, it works. hmmm...
Though I'm in Linux at the present, I pulled upen regedit.exe in WINE and tried to simulate a Windows reboot, and regedit didn't close. It's obvious that Microsoft purposely made it so Windows couldn't shut down if regedit.exe is running. Open AUTOEXEC.BAT in Notepad (it's a hidden file in your C:\ drive) and check for anything with regedit.exe in it. If you find it, post it here and I'll tell you if it's safe to delete it.

OK. That's good to know...
And now that I think about it, AUTOEXEC.BAT isn't on Windows XP. I also have ME, so that's where I'm getting it from.
