Default .exe off cd

I was just wondering that when u burn an .exe file onto a dvd or cd, does the application run off the cd or does it affect ur HD because im afraid hidden viruses or malware will be installed in my HD when i play my friend's burnt .exe file. Will any viruses install onto my comp when i run it off the cd or will the app just run off the cd and not affect my comp at all

If a file is infected, it is also infected when burned on a dvd or cd. Software like Nero has the option to do a virus check before burning. That prevents nasty surprises down the road.

An exe ran off the disk is just as likely to infect as if it were on the pc. You can virus check the disk before running the exe.
