Default pc settings etc

Ive recently built my first ever pc, its all great but i get more rror messages and the send error reprots than i did on my old pre-built pc. and some game's graphic settings automatically sets the graphics to medium when i know the specs are way more capable thna handling medium.

the specs are:

xfx nvidia 7900gt 256mb
2gb corsair ram
250gb harddrive
creative audigy 4
amd san diego 3700+
and an Asus a8n sli premium.

wat ya think?

oh yea lol i forgot to say. some games dont work and i get win32 errors or something, only if i try and install a particular game. they arnt serious errors like send error report, or programmes stop responding. nothing is overclocked so theres no problem there. i formatted the computer already hoping it would get rid of the problems. they arnt serious or happen all the time, just more than often. they are just annoying and they shouldnt be there.

i think its something to do with system settings not being properly configured or something.

Sounds like driver issues, have you installed the drivers for your 7900gt?

i have installed all the latest drivers for everything. but everytime a 'send error report' box came up i kept sending it to microsoft, about a week after doing that i updated windows and it seemed to be perfectly fine, maybe microsoft actually took note of my overload of error reports lol
