Default Firefox lag

When I try to download something when using Firefox, there's a terrible lag to open the download window; the download starts, but the computer is processing to open the Download window... VERY VERY Annoying. How can I fix?

No, it is not the internet bandwidth that is missing; and anyways, IE works flawlessly.

Maybe try and reinstall FF.
